Cumulative patch 17 - Oracle 9 support and bug fixes.

NOTES:

This is a cumulative patch. It contains and will install all prior version 1.70 patches (except patch170_2 which corrects an installation program issue).

This patch will replace the web-server application's string table (strings.txt). Users of non-English versions of WBT Manager should contact their local reseller for an updated copy of this file.

M2005020201 - Course-level prerequisites disappearing.
In the System Administrator Module course properties. If a property was changed and the changes applied without displaying the "Prerequisites" tab (by clicking on it) any course-level prerequisite settings were lost. This has been corrected.

M2003081103-Compatibility problems with Oracle ODBC drivers.
Prior to this patch the only supported drivers for the Oracle DBMS were drivers from Oracle 8.1.5. The Oracle 8.1.7 ODBC driver did not work properly with the System Administrator Module and Oracle 9 drivers were not supported at all. Testing and required modifications have been done to support Oracle 9 and Oracle 9.2 client software. See the Oracle configuration notes below for details of supported configurations.

M2005011701-regstud script will not create department for students.
The student registration script included in the External Script Interface Kit allows a form (or server-side script) to post the name of the department into which the new student is to be placed in place of the registration code for the department. If a department of that name does not exist it is supposed to be created automatically. This was not working and has been fixed .

M2005012001 - "Invalid use of null" error in student import utilities .
On systems which were upgraded from version 1.8 usage of the student import utilities could result in an "Invalid use of null" error during the database login process. This was caused by several new data element not being initialized by the upgrade scripts. This has been corrected.

M2005020301 - Reset button not working on course concurrent enrollment page.
In the System Administrator Module course properties on the "Concurrent Enrollment" tab changes made to the allowed number of students were not reset when the reset button was clicked. This has been corrected.

M2005020302 - Application error on IIS restart.
When shutting down IIS after running the WBT Manager web-server application the system would pop up errors due to the order in which IIS was destroying intrinsic IIS objects referenced by WBT Manager objects.
dllhost.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "xxxxxxxxxxx" referenced memory at "xxxxxxxxxxx". The memory could not be "read".
This has been corrected.

M2005020701 - LMSInitialize will not work under Turkish Locale.
When used under the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine on systems set to the Turkish locale Internet Explorer cannot find the API function LMSInitialize(). This is caused by a known bug in Microsoft's VM. A work-around has been provided
Note: The Microsoft VM is no longer supported due to lawsuit settlement with Sun. Users should migrate to the Sun Java runtime v1.4+.

Installation:

First unzip the patch files to a temporary directory.The patch includes 4 installation sets.

System Administrator Module

On each system where the System Administrator Module is installed:

Launch admin_module\seteup.exe

You will be prompted for the directory that the WBT Manager System Administrator Module was installed in. Verify that the path points to the correct directory and click "Next".

Once installation is complete you can launch the System Administrator Module.

Web-Server Application

On the web-server where the WBT Manager Web-Server Application is installed:

Stop IIS web services (skipping this step may require a system reboot after installation).

Launch web_module\setup.exe

You will be prompted for the directory that the WBT Manager Web-Server Application was installed in. Verify that the path points to the correct directory and click "Next".

You will see a list of files that are being replaced that are not normally replaced during an upgrade. These files will be backed up before replacement. If you have modified any of these files you will need to re-do your modifications. Click "Next".

Once installation completes you can re-start web services.

Batch Maintenance Module

On each system where the Batch Maintenance Module is installed:

Launch maint_module\seteup.exe

New versions of wbtm_mnt.exe and wbtm_mntctrl.exe will be installed.

Replace the copies of utilities\site_configuration\wbtmconfig.exe, utilities\conversion_tools\shared_status\sharestats.exe, and utilities\conversion_tools\status_rebuild\rebstat.exe in your copy of the WBT Manager 1.7 installation set with the versions in this patch. Or download a new copy of the installation set from http://www.ielearning.com/wbt/trial/application/wbtm170.zip.
