Patch 2 - Bug fixes and Reporting Enhancement

Contents:

• M2007120401 - Password decryption error when changing departments for a new student.
  On systems were user passwords are encrypted, when a new student is being added through the Local Administrator interface (web-based administrator interface), selecting a department before saving the student record will result in a error message.

• C2008022701 - Add status history reports to web module
  A number of clients have requested the ability to report on students' historical course statistics (data saved when a student is dropped form a course or has their status reset for a course) through the Local Administrator interface instead of having to use the System Administrator history reports.
  We have added 2 new standard local administrator reports and enhanced the Ad-Hoc Report utility to accomodate this.
  
  New standard Local Administrator reports:

Student Course Results (historical)
Displays the same data as the System Administrator report of the same name.

Student Detail Results (historical)
Displays the same data as the System Administrator report of the same name. However, this report will always display a record for each lesson in a course even if the student has not yet entered that lesson (the System Administrator version can only show lessons that the student has entered).

New Ad-Hoc reporting features:

Ability to select just student data. Prior versions could only select data for students who were enrolled in at least one course and would return a record for each course in which the student was enrolled (resulting in duplicate data if only student demographic information was desired)>

Ability to select historical course and lesson status data instead of just current status data. Note: Current and historical status cannot be included on the same report.

Ability to display a record for each lesson in a course even if the student has not entered every lesson. Prior versions could only display data for a lesson that the student had entered. This feature is optional.

Installation:

First unzip the patch files to a temporary directory. Copy the web_module directory to the web-server where WBT Manager is installed.

Web-Module:

On the web-server where the WBT Manager Web-Server Application is installed:

Copy the web_module folder from the patch to a convenient temporary location on the web-server.

Note the NTFS permissions on the WBT Manager DLLs (see "Replaced Files" list below) in the Windows/System32 directory.

If you have a translated version of WBT Manager or have customized the string table (strings.txt ) make a backup copy of strings.txt and update it as described instring table changes  below.

Shut down IIS services from a console prompt (execute "NET STOP IISADMIN").

Execute the setup.exe program found in the web_module directory.

When prompted for an installation directory browse to the location where the WBT Manager Web-Server Application is installed.

After installation is completed check the NTFS permissions on the new versions of the WBT Manager DLLS. Make any necessary changes to the permissions.

Restore the modified backup copy of the strings.txt file (as mentioned above) if necessary.

Re-Start IIS ("IISRESET" at a console prompt).

Run the SQL script C2008022701.sql to update the Ad-Hoc Report utilities fields as described in Updating the Ad-Hoc field list  below.

Run the reload.asp script in the browser to refresh the string table for changes made in this patch.

Verify access to the WBT Manager Web-Server Application and perform any other desired checks.

String Table Changes

This patch will replace the string table (strings.txt ) used by the web module. If you have a translated version of WBT Manager you will need to obtain a new version from your reseller or add the new strings to your existing file.

To update the file yourself:

1. Make a copy of your existing strings.txt file.
2. Translate and change the entries in the file web_module\C2008022701-strings.txt
3. Copy the new strings into your backup copy of strings.txt in the appropriate places (numeric order).
4. Install the patch.
5. Replace the patch's strings.txt file with your updated one.

• Crystal Reports XI support for System Administrator module.
  The System Administrator module was originaly designed with builtin support for running reports created with Crystal Reports version 7. At some point around version 8.5 Crystal Reports dropped support for the API that the admin module was using to launch reports. This meant that the runtime engine for Crystal Reports 8.5 or higher could not be launched and only reports created with earlier versions of Crystal Reports could be launched.
  
  The System Administrator module has been modified to function with the Crystal Reports 11 runtime (included in patch). Where feasible (if advanced features are not required), standard reports will continue to be written in version 7 to allow clients to modify them with earlier versions of Crystal Reports.
